Why We Do What We Do

Founder, Proximity Gap Network

Imagine someone you love calling a shelter to find a place to sleep for the night only to realize that when they arrive, the bed they were promised was gone and they are turned away along with all hopes of a safe, warm, space to rest for the night. Proximity Gap Network was born out of a desire to bridge the gap of those who want to help and those who need it.

Our mission is to see communities transformed through partnering with organizations and churches to connect people to resources that help them overcome hardships and improve their quality of life.

The GAPS

Poverty

In 2020, the poverty rate in rural Georgia was 18.8%, compared with 13.1% in urban areas of the state.

Homelessness

Georgia has around 10,000
unhoused people as of August 2022; and most are in Rural areas. 

Education Deficit

In 2020, 17.1% of rural Georgia and 10.9% of the urban population lacked a high school diploma.

We know that hope deferred makes the heart sick.
Our prayer is to fill the gaps through faith in action.

"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." - James 2:14-17

We are committed to filling the gap and fulfilling the mission through our roadmap of faith in action

OUR ROAD MAP

Network
We are building a Case Management System that will provide a clear line of communication between organizations that care and individuals that need care. Each individual who signs up through our network will be given a strategic roadmap to recovery as we connect them with nonprofits, churches, healthcare organizations, and schools that can provide them with the resources they need to recover from the hardships they're facing.
Proximity Centers
Our Proximity Centers will serve as discipleship hubs in rural Georgia. These community centers will foster spiritual, emotional, and relational growth for the community and its leaders.
Transitional Housing
We will offer a transitional housing program for single mothers experiencing homelessness, who also need assistance finding employment, and help getting on their feet to live independently.
Community Podcast
We will create a space where guests will have the opportunity to talk about the impact they are making in the community, share stories, and talk about how others can get connected with their mission.
